I download the headers to my email before I download the actual email, so that I can delete spam without opening it, and I receive tons of spam with just "hi" or "hello" in the subject line.

However, I rarely actually check that address, as it gets upwards of 200 plus spam messages a day (after being filtered through a spam interceptor) and I cannot actually be bothered to go through that much email. If you're a friend, you should already know the actual email address that I use on a daily basis.
Also, feel free to leave messages in my guestbook, as I do regularly check that, and I will respond to messages there pretty promptly. Much more promptly that an email sent to the above address, that's for sure.
